One of the best-known poles of the southeast Alaskan area is the Kiks'adi pole, which stands along the main street of the town of Wrangell. One hundred year ago, near the time when this monument was first carved, the pole was in the heart of the Stikine Tlingit village called Kaach'kana'akw, the "Village Behind the Lake." |
